Statista.com, self proclaimed No.1 Global Business Data Platform has a published article for your perusal
The research of self proclaimed expert Christopher Hughes.
States:-
“Over the past 20 years, the share of the Australian population that hold a degree at a bachelor level or above has increased by more than six times, reaching 50.2 per cent in 2021. In Australia, the tertiary education sector comprises of (sic) both public and private institutions. The student body is comprised of both domestic and international students.”
Fifty percent of us?
Time to look a little deeper
Our World in Data, which puts the graduate percentage as a more believable 18.5 in 2010 seems more likely.
Trendy glamour nations, Finland and Sweden are at 12.3 percent and a touch under 15 percent according to the “Our World in Data”website
Nevertheless our expert continues:-
“Domestic students make up most of the graduates within Australia. Almost three-thirds of the university graduates employed in the country were working in professional occupations in 2020. University graduates from pharmacy, rehabilitation, and teacher education study programs had the highest employment rate compared to all other fields. Dentistry graduates earned the highest median full-time salary of recent university graduates in the country.”
Almost three-thirds?
Interesting term, maybe he means two thirds or two and a half thirds, or is he telling us that ‘almost all’ graduates were working in professional occupations in 2020?
But these cheap shots from an old man aside, if what he states is true, we are in a real pickle, and it is no wonder the tradies drive better cars than I have ever owned.
